Terms of Service
Last updated: 17 June 2026
These Terms govern your use of Boekly, the bookkeeping service provided by [Boekly legal entity — e.g. Boekly (Pty) Ltd]("Boekly", "we", "us") at boekly.co.za. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What Boekly is
Boekly helps South African small businesses and individuals organise their books — invoices, expenses, receipts, VAT working papers — and shows estimates of what you may owe SARS. It is software that helps you stay organised.
Boekly is not professional tax or accounting advice
This is important. Boekly's figures, including any "SARS bill", VAT201 working paper, and provisional-tax estimate, are automated estimates for your guidance, based on the information in your account. They are not tax, accounting, legal or financial advice, and are not a substitute for a registered tax practitioner or accountant. You are responsible for reviewing your figures, for what you submit to SARS, and for filing and paying on time. We are not liable for any penalties, interest or losses arising from your reliance on the estimates or from your own filings.
Your account
You must provide accurate information, keep your login secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. You must be 18 or older and authorised to act for the business or household you add.
Acceptable use
Don't use Boekly for anything unlawful, don't attempt to break or overload the Service, and don't upload content you have no right to. We may suspend accounts that put the Service or other users at risk.
Your data and content
Your business data is yours. You grant us the licence needed to host and process it to provide the Service (including sending receipts and questions to our AI processors as described in our Privacy Policy). You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter. You can export your data in CSV and request deletion at any time.
Trials, subscriptions and billing
- New accounts include a 14-day free trial of the paid features.
- After the trial, continued access to paid features requires a paid plan. Prices are shown in South African Rand and billed through our payment processor (Paystack).
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the billing period you choose until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid are non-refundable for partial periods. We may change prices on reasonable notice.
Third-party services
Boekly integrates with third parties (for example payment processing and, where enabled, bank data). Your use of those is also subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for them.
Availability
We work hard to keep Boekly available and accurate, but we provide the Service "as is" and cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may carry out maintenance and update features over time.
Intellectual property
Boekly, including its software, design and brand, belongs to us. These Terms don't give you any rights in it beyond using the Service.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Boekly is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for tax penalties or interest arising from your filings. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Termination
You may stop using Boekly and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these Terms or where we must for legal or security reasons. On termination you can export your data for a reasonable period.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms; we'll post the new version here and update the date, and tell you about significant changes. Continuing to use Boekly means you accept the updated Terms.
